PCS77 Fall in New Jersey

No Spring, nor Summer beauty hath such grace,
As I have seen in one Autumnal face.

-John Donne

THE AUTUMNAL EQUINOX: The day of the year when the sun passes the equator, making the length of day equal to the length of night. In the northern hemisphere: September 22. In a N. American Paconian 77's life: Sept 29-Oct. 1, 2000.

Why equate the event with the equinox? Because many of us are in our fortieth year - halfway through our earthly journey: can be equally good or bad, depending on one's perspective. Because we fondly look back. Because we tenderly look forward. Because we are looking right now ... and we like what we see.

Because Gia would like to sing "Kumbaya" in front of the fireplace ad nauseum. Because Gary has "painted" HIS map of the world on his body. Because Charlie burns both ends of his candle (and "oh, what a lovely light!") Because Lino loves champurado and dilis for breakfast. Because Loy has a lovely wife.

Because Rey Javier is still single. Because Ely, as in high school, still watches the girls silently as they pass in front of his building. Because Leng has a vivid memory of the games we played. Because Nettes still loves brown. Because Cowboy will finally tell us who his "girlfriend" in high school was. Because Tim, is, after all, Colossus. Because Das is Das.

And that is that.

Oh, and also ... because I said so.
